チェンライ：市内〜空港間連絡バス（Chiangrai: city-airport public shuttle bus)

2018年10月7日から「CR Bus」がチェンライ市内〜空港間連絡バスを運行開始した。これまではタクシーで200バーツが相場であったが、運賃一律20バーツという財布に優しい選択肢が増えた。今回は実際に乗車した様子をレポートにしたい。

まず運行ルートだが、チェンライ第2(長距離)バスターミナルを起点に、セントラルプラザチェンライ、市内中心部のチェンライ第1バスターミナル(ナイトバザール)、Mengrai王のモニュメント(国道1号線パホンヨティン通りの交差点)、そしてチェンライ空港を結ぶ(両方向)。

営業時間は朝8時台から夜8時台まで、およそ1時間に1本強の運行間隔だ。

運賃は一律20バーツと格安、新型車両で乗り心地もよい。

さて乗り方なのだが、この点がやや不親切だと感じた。まずチェンライ空港から市内であれば、空港の出口を出て「右手」へ、空港建物の屋根が途切れる所あたりにバスは止まっている。特にバス停や表示はないが、紫色のバスは目立つので大丈夫だろう。

問題は市内から空港だ。

まず時刻表が郊外の第2バスターミナルの発車時刻しか記載されていないため、市内の他のバス停から乗車する際に時刻の目安がない。まぁ第2バスターミナルから市内中心部の第1バスターミナルまでは15分程度なので、余裕を持って時刻表通りに待機しておけば乗り逃すことはないだろう。

次に待機場所であるが、メーサイやパヤオ行きのバスが止まる所の向かい側、トゥクトゥクやタクシーが止まっている所に到着する。

写真でいうとドライバーがたむろしているパラソルの前あたりだ。目印などはなにもないから注意されたい。

さらに、空港行きのバスと第2バスターミナル行きのバスは止まる所が同じなのである。運転席横にタイ語の行き先表示のボードが掲げられているが、これも念のため運転手に「パイサナームビンマイ？(空港行きますか？)」と聞いた方がいいだろう。

今回わたしは、第2バスターミナルを13時20分に発車するバスに、第1バスターミナルから乗ってみた。余裕を持って13時25分ごろには第1バスターミナルに着いておくと、案の定タクシーの運転手が声をかけてくる。「CRバスで空港行きます」と告げると、「ここで待つといいよ」とパラソルの所に連れて行ってくれた。「ちなみにタクシーなら今すぐ出発できて120バーツだけど」というセールストークをやんわりと断りながらも、バスが来るのを信じて待つ。

待つこと10分程度で紫のバスが到着。運転手に空港行きかを確認して乗り込む。運賃を入れる機械には10バーツ硬貨しか入らないようなので、運転手に頼んで20バーツ紙幣を両替。第1バスターミナルは13時35分ごろに出発。乗客は物珍しさで乗っているおじさんのみ。

道中は渋滞もなくスムーズに進む。途中で運転手がCDを挿しこみ音楽を流し始める(なんで普通の路線バス車両にカーステレオが搭載されてるのかしら)。第1バスターミナルから乗ること25分、14時ちょうどにチェンライ空港に到着した。

空港まで圧倒的に安い値段で行けるが、時刻や待機場所がやや不親切なので、このレポートが役に立てばと思う。まだテスト運行期間ということで、若干不安はあるがなかなか来そうになかったらタクシーに切り替えてしまうのもよい(以前より交渉に応じてくれるだろう)。利用者が増えて、常設路線となることを願う。

I tried riding a bus from Chiangrai 1st bus station to the airport, here I would like to share my experience.

Timetable

First of all, there is no timetable from 1st bus station, but only from 2nd bus station. However it takes only 10-15mins from 2nd station to 1st station, it is better for you to wait at the time on the timetable even you are going to ride from 1st station so that you will not miss the bus.

Waiting area

There is no signboard for the waiting area of this bus service. At 1st bus station, the bus arrives around the opposite side of the bus berth (or in front of Tuk-Tuk or Taxi parking area; there is a colourful parasol, please look at my picture above). And one point you should be aware of is its direction. Since there are both route from/to the city to/from the airport, and the bus stop is used for the both direction. So you should ask the driver where to go before riding.

How to ride

I used the bus depart from 2nd station at 1:20pm. So I arrived at 1st station around 1:25. Waiting for 10mins around, the bus came to the 1st station. Fare is 20baht, but the machine is only accepting 10baht coins, so I asked the driver to change 20baht banknote into two 10baht coins. The passenger except me was only local man who perhaps interested in this new transportation service (lol).

Then the bus departed from 1st bus station at 1.35pm. and traveled around the city. 25mins journey took me to the airport from the city, at 2pm I reached Chiangrai airport.

This service is nice because of the cheap fare, but there are still some difficulties in terms of the schedule and waiting area. So I hope this report will help more tourists to use the service, and hope the bus will be convenient more and more in the future :))
